Documents required for the Leh Ladakh bike trip
A Valid Government Photo Id Proof, Valid Driving License, and If you are an International tourist you will require an International Driving Permit (IDP) along with the Passport. You will also require an Inner Line Permit (ILP) to visit Ladakh’s protected areas. The permit can be taken from the Deputy Commissioner’s Office In Leh.
The best route to go to Leh
- Route Map 1. Srinagar to Leh- Delhi – Jammu – Srinagar – Kargil -Leh – Karu – Sarchu – Manali – Delhi.
- Route Map 2. Manali to Leh – Delhi – Manali – Sarchu – Leh – Khardungla – Nubra Valley – Kargil – Srinagar – Delhi.
Itinerary
Day 1- Arrive at Leh (Check in to your hotel) at an Altitude of 11,000 ft so you will rest at 1st day and acclimatize to the weather.
Day 2 – Explore the Main Attractions in Leh City at your own pace
Day 3 – You can go to Khardungla which is situated at 18,380 ft above sea level and is also the highest motorable road in the world and from that you can go to nubra valley there is a buddhist monastery which is the biggest and the oldest in the world. Night stay at Hunder.
Day 4 – From Thunder you can go to sumur which is also the siachen Base camp and the view from this village is just breathtaking. Night Stay at Sumur .
Say 5- From Sumur you can proceed towards Pangong Tso Lake , The speciality of this lake is that it changes its colour every hour and 25% of this lake is with India and remaining is with China and the road until here is very adventurous and hence all the people on bike should definitely come here and spend a night here because at night this place looks so beautiful with all the stars hovering above you making you feel as if you are in a some kind of Fairy tale .
Day 6- The next day you can visit the exact place where the movie 3 idiots scene was shot and then you can proceed back to Leh.
Day 7- Spend your last day in Leh relaxing or doing local sightseeing
Day 8- You can either go by plane or if you have your own bike you can go to kargil where the kargil war was fought and there are memorials of all those who lost their lives and the army weapons and tanks are there as a form of respect to Indian Army . And From Kargil you can go to Srinagar, or you can go to Manali from Leh .
